The Valley Invitational Baseball League (VIBL) starts its 10th year of summer baseball. VIBL Baseball. The league started with just a handful of teams in 2000 and now includes 30 teams from the CIF Southern and City Sections. The level of play is as good as it gets with all the best Southern California high schools participating. The league is designed to develop and showcase the players that will star for each high school the following spring. The league has switched to wood bats this season for the first time.
An agreement to have every game scored on an iPad using iScore has been approved by the League. ESPN is sponsoring this test run of their web site and software. League stats, standings, and other info will be available from any devise that has an internet connection. Live scoreboard and play by play will be available for the first time!
The Wood Bats have made the games interesting as the pitchers knowing the batters have a smaller "sweet spot" on the bat are challenging all the batters who are thus swinging at the first pitches resulting in very fast and low scoring games.
That is making it difficult for the score keepers who are trying to learn how to keep score on i-score program on the new i-Pads that were loaned to each team by ESPN.
The i-Score program that they are using on the i-Pad is actually the same App that you can get on the i-Phone for 9 bucks, except with the larger screen it's much easier and you can see all the scoring features possible without scrolling or pointing to new screens.
Here is the Link where you can see all the Game "Scores", "Standings" and while at home you can click on the "Games" Tab and follow "Live" any game that is currently in Progress. Not quite as good as the ESPN Game Cast, MLB Game Day, CBS Sportsline Game Tracker etc. but it's fine for High School.

On the "Games" Tab, you can click on any iScorecast of any game either currently going on or in the past. While on the iScorecast you can have each pitch and play broadcast on your speakers.

Moorpark defeats Chatsworth 2-1 in 2010 VIBL Final at Birmingham High.
http://www.insidesocal.com/prepsports/2010/07/baseball-moorpark-beats-chatsw.html
Aaron Brown was on base all 4 times with 3 hits and a HBP but Chatsworth could only muster 1 run.
Brackets going into the Semi Final Round of the VIBL Playoffs

The Link to the VIBL ESPN-RISE site is available at the following link:
http://leagues.iscorecentral.com/vibl
At the VIBL ESPN-RISE web site you can get the teams Stats an iScoreCast & Box Scores of every game as well as Play by Play accounts of each game and sometimes a Computerized Score Card of each game.
Best way to get all 5 Reports is to click on the Teams Tab:
Suggest choosing "West Ranch" then click on "Games"
The Computerized Score Card is not available for every Team and Game.
West Ranch clicked the availability to get this Score Card on every game, but Hart for example has it available for only 3 games.
Apparently most teams didn't click the button to present it at all.
Too bad, a neat feature, although live many of the features it still needs some work and refinements.
The Score Card only showed up for the team that clicked it to be shown, not for the opponent.
So for best example of the Score Card, click on "Teams", then "West Ranch" and then "Games".
