2010 AABC 18U Connie Mack
West Regional (Bellevue and Seattle, WA)
July 28 - Aug 1

The 18U Trombly Braves are flying to Seattle tomorrow to participate in the Connie Mack West Regional Tournament. This is a 12 team tournament and the winner will advance to the 2010 Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, NM. The tournament is a double elimination format. We hope to represent Southern California well and earn our 3rd trip to the Connie Mack World Series.

Trombly Braves-9
AZ Dodgers-7
(12 innings)
We were winning 7-2 and the Dodgers scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game. Neither team scored a run in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th innings until we scored 2 runs in the top of the 12th inning. Cody Hough-OF ('10 Santiago/UC Riverside) and Zach Ortiz-RHP/1B ('11 Cypress/UCLA) each hit solo HR's in the 12th inning for us to win the 4 1/2 hour game and get us off to a 1-0 start in the tournament.
Christian Belleque-RHP ('10 Fullerton/Fresno State) started and threw very well until we ran into trouble in the 5th inning. We made a few errors and the Dodgers had a few key hits to get back in the game. Matt Taylor-LHP/OF ('11 Santiago) came in and did a great job getting us 3 big outs followed by Austin Boyle-RHP ('10 El Modena/Long Beach State) who threw 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Connor Detko-RHP ('10 Royal) threw the final 3 innings for us to pick up the Win.

Tomorrow (7/29) we play @ 1:00 pm against the Danville Hoots. The Hoots are a very good team and won the Western Regional last year to advance to the Connie Mack World Series. Our programs have had a great relationship over the years and play each other numerous times each year. They are a good club and tomorrow should be another great game in our friendly rivalry.
Our starting pitcher will be Christian Coronado-RHP ('10 Hemet/Cal State Fullerton).
